Map position study

Move a map marker from a car park to the premises

A marker beside parked vehicles may be geographically close and operationally wrong. Review where the listing's marker belongs and how visitors should reach the customer entrance.

Illustrative route only. Not a real map.

A place marker can end up in a car park through an old submission, a broad property reference or an imprecise edit. The visible map may still look plausible because the business is nearby. Before moving anything, identify whether the record represents the premises, the car park itself or a collection point using the parking area. That distinction determines the correct correction.

Element Purpose
Business marker Identifies the operating premises
Parking information Explains where vehicles may be left
Entrance instructions Connects arrival with the customer door
01

Identify the object being mapped

Confirm the business name and the service associated with the record. A car park may have its own legitimate place entry, while a shop or workshop needs an entry appropriate to its premises. Compare the profile with approved business information. Do not move a genuine parking record simply because a nearby business uses it for customer arrival.

02

Confirm the customer-facing position

Use current signage, a location contact and suitable source information to establish where the business operates. Aerial imagery can help orient the review but may lag behind construction or a new entrance. Note uncertainty rather than guessing a precise point from an old roof outline. Keep the location record separate from the road instructions customers will follow.

03

Explain the route from parking to service

Customers may still need the car park even after the business marker is corrected. Describe the appropriate entrance or short walking connection where the directory supports useful arrival notes. Keep loading areas and restricted gates distinct from visitor routes. A corrected business marker should not silently imply that vehicles may stop directly outside the customer door.

04

Submit one clear correction

Record the current marker, the proposed business position and the evidence supporting the change. State the reason in terms of the actual entity and arrival problem. Avoid combining an uncertain map edit with unrelated name or category changes. Use the platform's supported correction route and keep the request pending until the public result has been inspected.

05

Review the outcome on the map

Reopen the public profile and confirm that the marker now identifies the intended business. Compare the address, entrance image and arrival text as well. If the marker is corrected but directions still suggest an unsuitable vehicle approach, retain that as a separate unresolved issue. Closing the map task should not hide another practical obstacle to visiting. Ask someone familiar with the premises to review the proposed arrival explanation without relying on the editor's assumptions.

Their role is to confirm the site, not to endorse a guess about how every navigation application will route a vehicle. Keep any uncertainty about the public road approach separate from the business position. Where the platform exposes distinct location and entrance fields, evaluate those fields independently instead of using one marker to represent every part of the journey. When another editor takes over, the correction note should explain why the original parking position was unsuitable.

Retaining that reasoning is more useful than leaving only a pair of unexplained coordinates.

Before closing the review

  • Record represents the business
  • Premises position confirmed
  • Parking and entrance remain distinct
  • Correction checked publicly
